The classic Golly Doll. This is the European style with the long tailcoat and bow tie. stovepipe trousers. He was based on the chimney sweep of the day, with his grimy face smudged eyes and mouth. It is still good luck to-day in some countries to be kissed by the Golly/chimneysweep  without getting yourself messed up.There are other stories too.
